Tooth Whitening (Take Home Kit)
If your teeth have lost their natural lustre and appear discoloured, stained or yellowed, tooth whitening is an avenue to consider.
At Silas Street Dental, we offer a take-home tooth whitening procedure which is safe and effective and can be performed in the convenience and privacy of your own home We consider it to be a gentler, more effective long-term solution than in-chair whitening. It’s usually advisable to get your teeth professionally cleaned before you begin bleaching them. This will help remove the film of bacteria, food, and other substances which have built-up on your teeth and probably contributed to the staining.
We can take impressions of your teeth and create a customised plastic tray for use at home. These trays are designed to hold bleaching gel correctly in place over the teeth while avoiding the gum area. Whitening is unlikely to cause side effects, although some people's teeth may become more sensitive for a short while. You may get mild gum irritation if you put too much gel in the mouth trays, but this will subside after a few days and cause no long-term damage. It is not advisable for pregnant women to have their teeth whitened; the effects of whitening products on the development of the baby are unknown.
It's essential to consult your dentist first to ensure any cavities are filled and your gums are healthy before the use of whitening products. We're happy to answer any queries you may have about take-home tooth whitening, and advising you on how best to use this product.
